Artistic, Educational, & Passionate
John Brennan's marching band arrangements have been featured all over the great state of Ohio, Arizona, & Wyoming. Mr. Brennan's music has contributed, in part as one member of a large team of staff arrangers and instructional staff, to the recent international popularity of The Ohio State University Marching Band. John's music was featured in 2012 Tribute to Classic Video Games halftime show that was performed by The Ohio State University Marching Band.
Mr. Brennan has a philosophy of writing educational and progressive music for the contemporary marching & wind band medium. An important characteristic of John's music is the aesthetic value he places within his writing. The primary focus of Mr. Brennan's work is in the compositional construction of the music, the aesthetic qualities of music, and remaining vigilant of the performers needs and responsibilities. His ultimate goal is to maximize the performers potential while fostering musical growth through quality compositional craft.
Upon recent completion of his Masters Degree program in Music Education at The Ohio State University, Mr. Brennan has refined his philosophy and approach to music education and composition. The experiences gained while serving as a Graduate Teaching Assistant with The Ohio State University Marching & Athletic Bands, in addition to the continued writing opportunities, have fostered substantial growth for John both professionally and personally.

My studies in graduate school have finally ended with the exception of one final class session. My master's thesis, which discusses contemporary show design and wind arranging practices for marching ensembles, has successfully been defended and submitted to the graduate school at The Ohio State University. In the following weeks I will receive my Master's of Arts in Music Education.
I have the privilege to work with four tremendous high schools for this falls competitive season; Newark High School (Newark, OH), Bishop Watterson High School (Columbus, OH), Dublin Jerome High School (Dublin, OH), and Delaware Hayes High School (Delaware, OH). Additionally, I am working out details to write for a couple show bands as well from the Cleveland, OH area. Those will be announced once everything has been finalized.
I am also pleased to announce I have first published arrangement with Arrangers Publishing Company. It was a wonderful experience working with the Jay Dawson, and the rest of the APC family on the arrangement. I look forward to working them again in the very near future.
The OSU Spring Athletic Band performed and executed, both musically and visually, one of the best spring game shows I have seen in Ohio Stadium. The show featured the music from the series Star Trek.
Show designing for the OSU Marching Band is in full force. I will not be announcing the show concept that I am personally working on (or any other show concept for that matter) for the fall season, but can assure you its going to be enjoyable.
On a personal note, my wife Rachael and I are expecting our first child, Ellie Ann, within the next couple of weeks! We are anxiously looking forward to Ellie's arrival, and cannot wait for the new experiences that come with being a parent.
All of my Best!
